1. Driving with Dogs
driving with dogs

This inspired site gives dogs and drivers over 400 wonderful dog walk routes, and a dog-friendly pub or cafe, within 5 miles of UK motorway exits. We think that’s a fantastic idea.

You no longer need to pace the service station verges to give your four legged traveller a much needed stretch of legs nor leave a two legged passenger outside the service station door while you go to the restroom (sounding familiar?).

Instead, plan for a little break in your journey and find a place for a proper walk with a dog friendly café thrown in. Sounds perfect. Go to www.drivingwithdogs.co.uk

2. Walkiees

Set up to help you find somewhere a bit different or when visiting a new area, Walkiees has set itself the goal of providing the best resource for finding and sharing new and exciting walks for you and your dog to explore.

You can search by town or by criteria and the walks and your’re presented with a walks submitted by enthusiastic dog walkers all nicely presented with helpful icons and links to related websites.

Submit your own favourite walk and Walkiees will donate £2 to a dog charity of your choice – we think that’s a nice touch. Go to www.walkiees.co.uk

Where to Walkies looks to live up to its claim of being full of wonderfully enjoyable dog walks as recommended by dog owners and their faithful friends.

Current walks cover the North West and the Midlands, with new walks and areas being added.

Each dog walk comes with directions, detailed maps, photos and descriptions, along with key info about the terrain, car parking, disabled access and much more. Go to www.wheretowalkies.co.uk

4. Dog Friendly Britain

Of course the ever helpful Dog Friendly Britain site has a comprehensive selection of dog walks on beaches, in parks and gardens and grounds as well as ‘off the lead walkies’.

You can search by county or region and it’s easy to target your search on the type of day out that takes your fancy.

With a focus on places to go for a dog walk and useful links to local websites, rather than the details of specific walks, the site is a fantastic resource for days out. Go to www.dogfriendlybritain.co.uk

5. Dugs Welcome

dugs welcomeNo it’s not a typo – this is a site for Dugs – that’s Dogs with a Scottish accent we assume from this Scottish based friendly site.

Describing itself as a dog (dug) friendly guide to Edinburgh, Scotland, the UK and beyond, the majority of the walks on this site are in Scotland with more being added from other parts of the UK. There isn’t a lot of detail on some of the walks but there’s much more than just walks with lots of photos of dugs in dug friendly pubs. And this cutie appears a lot – must find out who he/she is!
